إِذَا مَاتَ الْعَالِمُ ثُلِمَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ ثُلْمَةٌ لَا يَسُدُّهَا شَيْءٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.
“When a scholar dies, a breach is made in Islam that nothing can repair until the Day of Resurrection.”

Dear Respected Community Members,

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn - Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.

With profound grief and sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Imam of our time (atfs), to our community and to all believers worldwide on the martyrdom of Ayatollah al-Uzma Seyyed Ali Khamenei, one of the greatest religious authority and guide whose influence and leadership were felt across faiths, cultures, and nations.  A figure regarded by many Muslims and non-Muslims alike as among the highest spiritual authorities of our time, his life reflected courage, dignity, and unwavering steadfastness in the path of Islam and the teachings of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).

He stood firmly for truth, justice, and moral responsibility, embodying the Qur’anic command to uphold righteousness even in the face of adversity. Through his scholarship, humility, and devotion, he reminded believers that faith is not merely spoken but lived through service, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to divine principles.

Many observers and voices across the world view his killing as part of broader geopolitical struggles in which powerful Zionist political forces seek greater dominance and control, pursuing strategic and worldly interests at the expense of justice, stability, and the dignity of oppressed peoples. While such actions may appear decisive in worldly terms, believers remain confident that injustice can never overcome divine truth or moral accountability.

Allah (SWT) reminds us in the Holy Qur’an:
“They plan, and Allah plans; and Allah is the best of planners.”
(Qur’an 8:30)

In moments of loss and uncertainty, this verse strengthens our hearts, reminding us that while human actions unfold before us, Allah’s wisdom and divine plan remain supreme. What may appear as tragedy in this world is never beyond His knowledge, justice, and ultimate mercy.

Our scholars have long reminded us that martyrdom in the path of Allah is not a defeat but an honor. As Imam Khamenei himself has emphasized in his reflections on shahādah:
“We do not mourn martyrdom as loss alone; rather, we thank Allah for granting the honor of sacrifice in His path, for the martyr has attained success.”

As a community inspired by the legacy of Imam Husayn (as), we are called not only to mourn but to continue the mission of those who stand for truth. The greatest tribute we can offer is to follow in his footsteps - deepening our understanding of religion, strengthening our character, serving humanity, and living according to the teachings of Islam and the guidance of the Ahlulbayt (as).

Let us honor his legacy by renewing our commitment to faith, unity, knowledge, and moral courage. May we raise our families and our community upon the values he exemplified: patience in hardship, sincerity in worship, and courage in defending justice.

We pray that Allah (SWT) elevates his station among the righteous, grants him the company of the Holy Prophet (saw) and the purified Ahlulbayt (as), and gives patience and strength to all who mourn this immense loss.

As a follower of Imam Ali (as), he led a life of purity and his martyrdom in Ramadan reminds us of one of his master’s words :

“Fuztu bi Rabbil Kaaba"(
فُزْتُ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ), meaning "By the Lord of the Kaaba, I have succeeded".

Please remember him in your prayers with a recitation of Surah al-Fatiha.

With prayers and condolences,
IEC- Houston
