Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "By preventing him from oppressing others." As-salaamu ‘alaikum / Greetings of Peace,
Very often, I meet American Muslims who seem to be in awe of minority communities that are consistently successful in gaining the attention of members of Congress and enacting laws that truly matter to the lives of their community members. They often ask, "How did THAT GROUP become so influential?” My answer is simple: They care enough to act. We too would undoubtedly achieve similar results, insha’ Allah, if we cared enough to act, and here is your opportunity: Muslim Advocacy Day. |
Brothers and sisters, on June 13-14*, Muslims from across the nation will meet in the halls of Congress to have our voice heard. CAIR-NY and several partner organizations will be co-sponsoring a free trip to Washington D.C. so that American Muslims can sit face to face with members of Congress to speak to them on matters concerning our community.
If we want to be heard, then we must show our elected servants that we care enough to act. |
Remember, transportation, food, and lodging are all free, so no excuses! It is time to act! Register now before all spaces are taken: bit.ly/7USCMO *NOTE: Busses will be leaving on Sunday, June 12th and returning on Tuesday, June 14th, insha' Allah. We hope to see you there, insha’ Allah! Jazakum Allah khair, Afaf Nasher, Esq. Executive Director, CAIR-NY |
